Practical Scrappers Valentine mailbox and mini

Up on the Practical Scrappers blog today, I shared a fun Valentine project I created using a Maya Road mailbox/mini and Basic Grey's new True Love line.

I first used Dylusions Postbox Red to color both the mailbox and my chipboard pages.

Love all the little chipboard and sheer embellishments that come with this line!

Here, I used one of the mini bottle caps! So cute!  At the bottom of the page, I also added some wooden veneer Studio Calico people. :)

The stamped "you'll always have my heart" is from one of the new Elle's Studio stamp sets!

Chipboard frame with one of the arrows and some bakers twine from Whisker Graphics added.

I love how this project turned out. Wondering if I should give it away or keep it? It would make a nice teacher gift!  Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you check out more altered items from the Practical Scrapper team!

Sketchabilities #84 reveal!

It's the end of the month so that means another reveal by the Sketchabilities DT!  Love working on this team...the sketches are so fun to work with!
Here is Sketch 84:

And here is my layout!  Sweet pictures of Hailey when she was a flower girl in my sister's wedding!

I used Dear Lizzy's 5th Avenue and Frolic collection for my project.  I love the colors and of course the fun embellishments!
One of the chipboard hearts...I also added some buttons from a Fancy Pants line I had leftover. I added gray/white bakers twine from Whisker Graphics and stuck a heart decorative pin from Maya Road behind.

The kraft arrow I cut from my Silhouette!

Be sure to check out the Sketchabilities blog for more layouts from the design team!

Echo Park's Today's Story layouts

Hello..hope this finds you doing well. I'm sharing the last of my projects done with Echo Park's Today's Story for The Scrapbooking Studio. I love the colors of this line, but I will admit I found it challenging. Do you sometimes have the problem of what you thought you would do with a collection doesn't turn out?  Well, I really struggled with my layouts for some reason.  And for this first one, I'm not even sure what I would add to it.  I love this pattern of the line...the "amazing" and "you rock" caught my eye and I thought of this past summer when my BFFs and I did the Dirty Girl 5k.  (If you haven't heard of the it, the race is a muddy obstacle course and also raises money for breast cancer research).

Here, I used a Snippet from the Elle's Studio line The Sweet Life. I added some Queen and Co. washi tape and enamel dots from My Mind's Eye

The letters for my title are from the Pebbles' Hip Hip Hooray collection.

I made different banners and pennants to go under a line of washi tape. Of course, I had to stitch through!

A journaling circle from Elle's Studio and yes, more washi tape!

For my next layout, I used my 4 inch scallop square punch and stitched them across the top.

My journaling spot, I cut from one of the patterned papers, then added washi tape and a piece of flair from {a flair for buttons}.

I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist of two of the Studio Calico wooden veneer pennants and threaded gray bakers twine through.  My title letters are Thickers from American Crafts.

A cute little geotag from Studio Calico!

And there you have it. It goes to show that being challenged is a good thing. As designers, I'm sure we all go through creativity blocks!  But, I think it helps us grow in our art.
Thanks for stopping by!

Echo Park's Today's Story Mini Album

Hello..I'm back to share a mini book I created with Echo Park's Today's Story collection. My book showcases our store's trip to the summer CHA show in Rosemont last summer! I created this for design team at The Scrapbooking Studio!

For my book, I used the 5x7 Chipboard Binder from Maya Road.  I first misted the cover and pages with Studio Calico Mr. Huey in Token.  Then, I covered the front with patterned paper, coordinating cardstock sticker, a cute doily (which I also misted), and some bakers twine from Whisker Graphics.  My "cha" letters are American Crafts Thickers.

This is a stamp set I ordered from Elle's Studio!

Part of our Bloomington staff!  Yay for being together (well at least for a bit)!

This is one of the 4x6 cards that are part of the Photo Freedom.  I added some cardstock stickers, washi tape, and of course, stitching!

Part of the Moline gals! Love seeing them!

Here, I covered a 2x2 piece of patterned paper with washi tape, then punched through with my butterfly punch.  I added a small piece of turquoise bling in the center.

I also misted a Studio Calico wooden veneer pennant and stamped a sentiment on top.
.

Malika and the awesome Amy Tangerine! In the lower left corner, I used one of the cardstock sticker tags.

.

Yay! I love TC....here we are in her booth!  The "enjoy the moment" circle is from Elle's Studio.

Love the little arrows that come with the collection.  I also used another cardstock sticker tag for journaling.

Here is another of the 4x6 cards.  I cut one of the smaller tags and adhered it on top to use for journaling. I added some fun washi tape and stamped a sentiment in the lower right corner.

For this page, I used very little patterned paper. I simply had a border and some washi tape then allowed my picture to take up most of the page. I stamped my sentiment directly onto the chipboard (the stamp comes from an Amy Tangerine collection)

For my last page, I again used one of the 4x6 journaling cards, adding  washi tape and one of the cardstock stickers.

I hope this inspires you to document a fun trip or experience you had!  Thanks for reading! Jen

Echo Park's Today's Story card

Hello everyone!  I'm back again to share a cute card I did using Echo Park's Today's Story collection.  I created this card for the design team at The Scrapbooking Studio: my lovely and awesome local scrapbook store.  I am lucky to be employed there as well...my boss Amy spoils us with so many great products!

My cards tend to be simple and I feel like I'm still trying to find my style.  I used a dark gray cardstock then used one of the journaling cards for the background.  I know chevrons are very much the trend...and I LOVE the gray and yellow!  I added some washi tape from Bella Blvd and a border strip using an EK Success punch.  No project is complete without some stitching!

I used one of my "polaroid" stamps from Maya Road for the front, then added one of the cardstock stickers and some gray bakers twine from Whisker Graphics (which I attached with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher!)

My cute little camera is from the Artisan Words from Pink Paislee.  I lightly misted it with Dylusions and blotted with a paper towel.

I hope you enjoyed my card...I loved creating it. Thanks for reading! Jen

Practical Scrappers January card

Yay its Friday!

Today, I am sharing a card I created for the Practical Scrappers design team.  We were given this card sketch:

And this is my card!

I used Dear Lizzy's 5th Avenue and Frolic line.  I cut the hexagon background and frame with my Cameo Silhouette (which I highly recommend).  I layered some of the fun stickers and die cuts on top of my frame, followed by adding some gray bakers twine from Whisker Graphics.

Be sure to check out Practical Scrappers for lots of inspiration and takes on this card sketch!
Thanks for reading!

CHA Winter Highlights

Hello...sorry its taken me so long to update. Last week, I was trying to get caught up from being gone. I had to work at an office the day after we got back. And I was just tired!  Traveling does that to me. It always takes me a few days to get back in sync.
So, like most kids across our nation, mine are home today. They also have tomorrow off too (school improvement day or something like that?).  Plus, it is pretty cold here...with the windchill its around 11 below.  So, we are staying inside!

So, Malika and I got into Anaheim around 11am Saturday the 12th..we checked into our hotel and then headed to the show! This was the first year that we both were on manufacters design teams...so we convinced our husbands that we HAD to go! LOL

Here is Malika with Stephanie Hunt, owner of Bella Blvd!

Me in the Clear Scraps booth with Susan Frase...co-owner of the company! So excited to meet her and Jim in person!!

So, here are some of our favorite things we found (in no particular order):

1.   Amy Tangerine's new line:  Yes Please.

Awesome must have date stamp!

One of the three new stitching templates.  LOVE!

The patterns are so cute!

2.  Maggie Holmes (Crate Paper):
Isn't she adorable?

LOVE these frames!!

Um, apparently I didnt take a picture of her paper!  Trust me it's cute!

3.  Dear Lizzy's:   Lucky Charm

Beautiful colors and embellishments!  Cannot wait to get my hands on this!!!

4.  Teresa Collins' 4 new releases! Far and Away, Memories, Stationary Noted, and He Said, She Said.

I heart TC...and I am so excited about her new paper lines! Plus, she has expanded on her embellishments to include paper garlands, 12x12 chipboard, file folders, mini envelopes, photo corners, sticky notes, and enamel dots!

5. Simple Stories' 24/7 and Vintage Bliss, and Urban Traveler

Plus, new embellishments for the SN@P line!

6. My Mind's Eye's Collectable, Boy Crazy, My Girl, and decorative tapes!

Mal and me with Jason Merrill. We are loving the long hair Jason!

Sorry this isn't a great picture of the collection...many of the same embellishments as their The Sweetest Thing collection.

7. Fancy Pants'  Park Bench and Trend Setter.

Love the embellishments!!

8. Allison Kreft's Composition and Color (Websters Pages):

I am loving these overlays!! Thank you Allison for filling our Hambly void!! :)

9. Lily Bee's Destination, Pinwheel, and Sweet Shoppe Collections:

10.  Echo Park's Photo Freedom Happy Go Lucky, All About A Boy, Sweet Girl, and Scoot.

11.  Crate Paper's DIY and Party Day

12.  Jillibean Soup's NEW Placemats, Wise Words, and Corrugated Shapes. New lines are Chilled Cucumber Soup, Irish Farmhouse Soup, and Fresh Vegetable Soup.  Plus, you will love how Jill has changed up the embellishments!!

13.  Studio Calico:  Pretty much everything...I love SC. The most exciting was the new Mr. Huey masks and new wooden veneer shapes.

14. Farmhouse Papers' 304 and Country Kitchen. Love the colors of both!

15. Basic Grey's Hipster, Kneehighs, and Bowties:  BG has continued to surprise me with how they have been changing up their embellishments this past year. This release was no exception. LOVE the wooden shapes!  Plus, the cute little bottle caps!

16.  Technique Tuesday: Everything AE Studio!  I know..I know, I am biased! I love Ali Edwards! But, she has SO much coming out this release!  I need it all. I may need to get a second job to finance all of these new stamps. Seriously, I have been a huge TT fan since the early 2000's. I think I still have some of my original stamp sets from 06?  I think TT makes great quality stamps that last.  Plus, they are just darn cute!

17.  Art Anthology:     A  new company started by the very talented and awesome Stayce DeWid.  I am so excited to get these products into our store!

18.  Tim Holtz new Ideology pieces and "viewmaster" die!

19.  Elle's Studio Tags and new 12x12 paper.  Love these!! Great for projects plus Project Life!!

20.  Glitz Designs new Unchartered Waters, Color Me Happy, and Love You Madly.
I didn't get any photos of their products as the booth was pretty busy when we went..plus we sat and did a make and take. The Glitz girls also released a line with Echo Park's Photo Freedom called Birthday Wishes!
Be sure to check out their blog! Love these ladies...they are so sweet and down to earth!

Honestly there was a lot more to we loved but these are what had our attention! Of  course have to give a shout out to Wendy Vecchi who is awesome!  We saw her at the Ranger booth doing a demo, but that was pretty much it. I can't believe how fast the days went!

Be sure to check out these companies' blogs to see their new releases and inspiration! Thanks for reading!
